Is the rent for your room too high?
Every room in shared housing has a legal maximum rent, set by the points system for rooms. Enter your room and the shared spaces to see yours.
How room rent works
- A room (shared kitchen, bathroom or toilet) always has a legal maximum rent, however many points it has. There is no free sector for rooms.
- Shared spaces count too, divided by the number of people who share them: a big shared kitchen adds points to every room.
- Room rent includes no service costs: those are charged separately and must be reasonable.
- Think your rent is too high? Within 6 months of moving in, the Huurcommissie can lower it and you get back what you paid too much.
